DC Lawyers for Youth was founded by alumni of the Georgetown Juvenile Justice Clinic in 2007. Since then, our Board has expanded to include lawyers, teachers, social workers, mentors and non-profit managers. We believe that improving juvenile justice in the District requires the input and participation of our entire community including youth, parents, teachers, judges, police and various other constituencies. DCLY seeks to bring these stakeholders together in order to develop the most effective policies and projects to promote our youth’s success.
“We have a powerful potential in our youth, and we must have the courage to change old ideas and practices so that we may direct their power toward good ends.”
-- Mary McLeod Bethune
