Young Achievers

One of the best ways to help young people stay on the right path is to encourage and reward their achievements in the classroom and the community. DCLY’s Young Achievers Program attempts to do just that.

Each month, DCLY reads letters from DC teachers and youth service providers highlighting the accomplishments of a positive young person in our community. DCLY selects one or two of those young people to be that month’s DCLY Young Achiever. Each Young Achiever receives a certificate from DCLY acknowledging their work and a gift certificate to a local business. The Young Achiever’s profile will also be forwarded to DC area newspapers and blogs in an effort to encourage them to profile positive young people, counterbalancing the numerous negative stories that are often published about our youth. This project seeks to inspire and support young people involved in positive activities and to ensure the DC community is aware of these success stories.

In order to nominate a young person as a DCLY Young Achiever, please submit the nomination form below.
